Two Main Types of One Pot Pasta: Stove Top and Slow Cooker

When it comes to One Pot Pastas, you have two main cooking methods to choose from: stove top and slow cooker. Both methods keep your dinner prep short and simple, but each has its own advantages depending on the recipe you’re tackling.

Stove Top is the first method to consider. Stove top pastas are cooked directly on the stove, usually in a large pot or skillet. They usually come together from start to finish in less than 30 minutes, so it’s an ideal choice for busy weeknights. It’s also a great option for recipes that require lots of stirring or frequent adjustments to the heat level during cooking (think removing vegetables when they’re tender or adding in cheese at the end).

Slow Cooker is the other choice—the slow-and-steady approach that lets dinner simmer away while you get other things done. Slow cooker pastas require longer cook times—even several hours—but there’s minimal hands-on time needed once all your ingredients have been prepped and added to your slow cooker. Bonus points for easy cleanup too!

Tips for Successful One Pot Pasta Recipes

The key to successful one pot pasta is getting the proportions of pasta, liquid and seasonings right. Generally speaking, you’ll want two cups of liquid for every cup of pasta and a generous sprinkle of salt and pepper (start with 1/2 teaspoon each).

Avoid overcooking. It’s also important to not overcook the pasta; stir it often while it’s cooking so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot. The goal is al dente—soft on the outside but still slightly chewy on the inside.

Choose your favourite flavours. One pot pasta recipes give you the creative freedom to mix and match flavours with whatever you have on hand. If you’re making something like macaroni and cheese, add extra vegetables like broccoli or bell peppers for extra flavour. For something like white clam sauce, go crazy with fresh herbs like parsley or rosemary. The possibilities are endless!

Believe me, by following these tips, you’ll have a tasty dinner in no time!

All in all, one pot pasta is a great way to get dinner on the table on a busy weeknight. With just a few simple ingredients and minimal effort, you can make a delicious meal that the whole family can enjoy. Best of all, you don’t need to be a gourmet chef to make it—all you need to do is put everything into one Toffi pot and let the flavours meld together. So be sure to give them a try and say goodbye to weeknight dinner woes.
